Honor 10 goes official in China

Honor 10 goes official in China. The hotly rumoured and much anticipated smartphone by Huawei’s Honor sub brand got finally launched yesterday, 19th April 2018 in China. The latest model by the company is named Honor 10.

Honor 10 is distinct from “Honor View 10” -the lead model of the brand – and is intended as a slightly more affordable edition to its smartphone line. The Honor 10 implements the same technology and features to those implemented in Honor View 10.

As specs of this newly launched phone are concerned, the display of Honor10 is a 5.8″ IPS LCD setup; one of those controversial ones with a notch at the top (because apparently just Apple is permitted to use those). It features a wide 19 : 9 aspect ratio with possession of 1080 x 2280p resolution at 432ppi.

Just following the earlier Huawei edge-to-edge models, the Honor 10 has managed to squeeze a thin fingerprint scanner in just below the screen.

If we take notice of internal hardware, we will be observing there the  same HiSilicon Kirin 970 processor (Huawei’s own brand) used in the Huawei P20 and Huawei Mate 10.

However, in Honor 10, HiSilicon Kirin 970 processor has been coupled with a hefty 6GB of RAM and 64GB of on-board storage.

Storage capacity is unexpandable with Honor 10 because of the absence of slot for microSD.

It comes with a 3,400 mAh cell with fast charge support – up to 50 percent in just shy of half and hour –  and is charged via USB Type-C.

The phone also have a 3.5mm headphone jack in the base plate paired with an AK4376A 32-bit DAC & Huawei Histen audio tech.

Android 8.1 Oreo and Huawei’s Emotion UI, with aka EMUI 8.1, complete the software package of Honor10.

Similar to other Huawei and Honor devices in design, the Honor 10 has brought across the irridescent “Twilight” style finish from the Huawei P20 series with a couple of color shifting options here. These are dubbed Mirage Purple, Mirage Blue, but there are also standard black & grey options available.

The rear camera of Honor10 is a dual-sensor setup with both a 16MP f/1.8 colour sensor & 23MP monochrome sensor. It is capable of 4K video recording.

The front-facing selfie-camera is a 24MP f/2.0 fixed-focus arrangement with 1080p video.

This smartphone features Huawei’s AI-driven camera capabilities seen on other recent flagships, with inclusion of scene recognition.

Though pre orders are started in China,  price and availability details of Honor10 for the other markets are not found.
