A phone with a slider mechanism?

Vivo as a company has made a name for itself being a company of bold design as well as innovation. It was the very first mobile phone company that launched a smartphone with an In-display fingerprint scanner as well as being the first to introduce the pop-up selfie camera setup. However, the company is yet to set its sights on a phone that will feature with a slider mechanism – which by the looks of it will become a reality – at least according to a patent filed by the brand itself. A phone with a slider mechanism.

The sketches with regards to this filed patent suggest that the device in question that Vivo is looking to develop will feature with a slider mechanism. Interestingly enough though, this isn’t even the first time that we’re seeing such a device come through. Indeed there have already been devices such as the Oppo Find X, Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 and some others that featured with such a design.

Perhaps down to the issue of durability, this particular design became obsolete. The question though does arise : considering the fact that the pop-up camera design is quite relevant when taking into consideration a full-screen display, so why file such a patent now?

Regardless though, coming back to the design, the slider part goes on to feature with the primary camera along with a flash module that is placed underneath. Sliding it up should indeed expose the front camera, however, the sketch does not show this. It is quite possible also then that the design is just simple a placeholder. Other than this, we can see the phone spot a quad-camera setup as well as curved corners. It also seems as if the display will be longer – having a 21:9 aspect ratio.

It’s important to realize that this design may never see the light of day and so we should wait for official news.
