Uber has much motive to celebrate as it claimed to cross the 5 billion trips all around the world mark on Saturday 20th May.

To achieve this target, 156 trips started concurrently at 7:29:06 am GMT, in 24 countries across 6 continents, in cities counting Dubai, Moscow, and Islamabad the capital city of Pakistan.

The company started in 2010 to get to the bottom of a simple problem: how do you obtain a ride at the click of a button? In late 2015, Uber made an announcement for crossing the one billion trips mark. After six months, the ride-hailing service reached 2 billion rides, and over the last 11 months, they have witnessed implausible development to attain an inspiring shared 5 billion rides.

In Pakistan, two partner-drivers Umer Ejaz Malik and Muhammad Kashif assisted the company to get the landmark. In Islamabad, Umer Ejaz completed a ride to Jinnah Avenue. While Muhammad Kashif completed one ride to Shahrah e Usman in Karachi.

As a token of admiration, the corporation will be giving $500 each of the 156 drivers who were part of this milestone, including both partner-drivers from Pakistan.

“At Uber, we are proud of our partner-drivers who have made it promising for us to accomplish this milestone. It’s remarkable that out of the 156 simultaneous rides taken globally, two were in Pakistan, one in one of our most modern markets; Islamabad. This is proof that the Uber technology and app is giving people access to secure, reliable and reasonably priced transportation at the tap of a button in cities across the world, including Islamabad,” says Safee Shah, GM of Uber Pakistan.

Muhammad Kashif, who completed one of 156 trips that started at the same time, and which took place on UberAUTO, said: “I am very happy about it, and there are no means I can utter it with words. Thank you, Uber!”

Umar from Islamabad stated how he felt about the instance and said “I,m thankful to Uber for giving us this reward and it is excellent to use the application. Thanks a lot, Uber!”

The ride-hailing company is dedicated to increasing its network, given that safe, reliable, and inexpensive transportation and improving the transport infrastructure of the cities in which it operates, at the same time also focusing on creating innovative and new features for drivers and riders.
