HDR support for Sony Xperia XZ premium added by Netflix

Now that the latest update has arrived, you can quite easily watch Netflix content in HDR on your Sony Xperia XZ Premium. The content in HDR can be watched on the Xperia XZ Premium’s brilliant 4K screen.
Last year, Sony made a huge mark on the smartphone market, with its latest ‘flagship’. This premium phone was not only the first phone ever to feature a Snapdragon 835 processor, but it was also the World’s first phone feature a 4K display with HDR support to go along. However, at that time, it didn’t look as if that feature of HDR would be useful because HDR content at that time wasn’t really readily available, however, the case is different now.
Netflix has very recently announced that the Sony Xperia XZ Premium, which is also a phablet, by the way, will be the next device which will have Netflix HDR playback enabled. The Sony Xperia XZ Premium is not the only device which can be used to play Netflix in HDR, as the LG G6 is another one of the phones which have this feature, and this device supports Dolby vision. The fact that the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the S8 Plus also support HDR, it might not be surprising to see them using HDR while streaming on Netflix, and this might happen sooner, rather than later.
The Xperia XZ Premium offers one of the best mobile displays out there right now – I mean, think about it; it’s pretty difficult to outshine the 5.5-inch 4K Triluminos display with HDR10 support. With Netflix HDR support, you should now be able to take full advantage of that screen while watching compatible content: the colors should pop out more, and the contrast should be higher. All you need to do is make sure that you have the latest Netflix app, a 4 screen premium Netflix subscription, and a decent internet connection, and you’ll be good to go.
