HTC U11 is a shortcut wizard with presence of Edge Sense

The HTC U11 is a terrific phone and has many standout features. The speakers are loud, the phone is fast, and the screen is as bright as they come. However, the most standout feature that belongs to the HTC U11 is the HTC Edge Sense, which basically lets you launch custom shortcuts when you squeeze the sides of the phones. It sounds quite weird, but once you get the hang of it, trust me, you’ll enjoy it just as much as the second person.

For now, you can program either a short of a long squeeze to launch the default voice assistant, open the camera, launch an app on your phone, take a screenshot, and perform a few other actions. However, to say that the Edge sense ends here would be wrong. There is still massive amounts of potential that can be brought along with this little tool, proven by some of the things HTC has been recently doing – most notably, HTC U11 has been teasing some significant improvements to Edge Sense including the ability to zoom in on Google Maps and Photos with a squeeze, answer/hang up phone calls, dismiss alarms, and pause videos, but unfortunately these updates haven’t arrived yet.

But, no need to get worried, as there is an app designed just to get the best out of your Edge Sense, and will allow you to do all the things that you should with the Edge Sense and this app is called: Edge Sense Plus. This third party app enhances the Edge Sense experience to a substantial degree.

Edge Sense Plus gives you access to more shortcuts. For instance, you can set Edge Sense Plus to launch things like the recent apps menu, toggle pre-set brightness settings, switch to vibration mode, skip tracks in your media player, launch split screen mode, go to the lock screen etc etc. Trust me when i tell you, the list goes on and on, and while most of the features the options that you are presented with are pretty much self-explanatory, there is one feature that needs some light to be shed on: The Sidebar, which pretty much gives you easy access to a convenient, customizable sidebar that appears on the edge of your screen when you squeeze your phone. You can include any application you want in the Sidebar, and also include quick settings and recent apps shortcuts if you choose to invest in the premium version. You can even change the colors of the panel, title, divider, and more.

This app, along with the sidebar can turn your phone into a shortcut wizard! However, if you still aren’t content with the features that the Edge Sense Plus brings you, you can quite simply invest in the Edge Sense Plus premium version, and for only $2.99, you’ll be able to set a double-squeeze action, set a long- and double-squeeze actions with G-Sensor enabled, set your own double squeeze interval, and much much more.
