PM inaugurated 340MW Nuclear Power Plant at Chashma

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi the Prime Minister of Pakistan has inaugurated country’s fifth nuclear power plant C-4 in Chashma.

The plant has the capacity to generate 340 Mega Watt.Unit-4 is being connected to the national grid.

PAEC (Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission) has achieved yet another milestone with the Chashma Nuclear power Plant Unit-4 while pursuing its vision of nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

Chashma Nuclear Power Project Units C-1, C-2, and C-3 previously have been contributing to the national grid successfully.

With availability factor of around 99%, the three nuclear power plants of Chinese origin have proved to be the best performing power stations in the Pakistan.

The fourth nuclear power plant C-4 has become operational now. The country’s four nuclear power plants KANUPP, C-1 C-2 and C-3 are generating 1030 MW. C-4 will add 340MW in Pakistan’s electricity.

K-2 and K -3, two large size Nuclear Power Plants are also under construction near Karachi. K-2 will be operational in 2020 and k -3 in 2021. Both the power plants will add 2200 MW to the national grid.

Prime Minister said the fruits of our endeavors have started reaching people with a network of roads that is being spread across the country. He also cited developed Gwadar and Thar Coal while referring to CPEC projects.

Nuclear power stations are generally thought to be base load stations since fuel is a little piece of the cost of creation. Their operations and upkeep (O&M) and fuel costs are, alongside hydropower stations, at the low end of the range and make them appropriate as base-stack power providers. The cost of spent fuel administration, be that as it may, is fairly indeterminate.

Since nuclear fission makes radioactivity, the reactor center is encompassed by a defensive shield. This control assimilates radiation and keeps radioactive material from being discharged into the earth. Also, numerous reactors are furnished with a vault of cement to ensure the reactor against both inside setbacks and outside effects.
