INTERNATIONAL CRICKET RETURNS HOME: SRILANKA PLAY PAKISTAN!

It has been a long past decade for Pakistani cricket fans who desperately waited for international cricket to return to Pakistan and to give them a renewed desire of being able to watch live cricket in the grounds of Pakistan again. Although, there have been bits and pieces of cricket, but PSL has been the primary source of it apart from a series against Zimbabwe. However, the patience of the people and the effort done by PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) has bear fruit.

their efforts have yielded results after receiving a positive response from Sri Lanka!

The expected games would be a two-match test series part of the Test Championship and will be played in September-October this year in Karachi’s National Stadium and Lahore’s Qaddafi Stadium.

Reports say the management of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is also in talks with the Bangladesh cricket team, inviting them for a short series in Pakistan.

Pakistan hasn’t hosted any international Test cricket event ever since the attack on Sri Lankan team’s bus in March 2009 in Lahore. The team had to leave without completing the series, taking away hopes of hosting international cricket from the country.

Since then, Pakistan has hosted all their home series in UAE, it was only in 2017 when Pakistan got to host Sri Lanka for a three-match T20 series that the visiting side lost 0-3. The successful arrangement of this series led to a three-match series against West Indies in April 2018 as well. There had been attempts to convince Australia to play in Pakistan but that proposal didn’t go through.

It would be a sign of relief for Pakistani fans as cricket returns home and they wouldn’t have to take a trip to UAE every time a home series came up.
