As far as the recent proceedings went, Samsung was actually indulged in a contract with Apple as the company had the exclusive contract for providing its fierce rival with flagship OLED iPhone screens. However, in November of last year, we actually learnt that things were about to change. Indeed as far as the screens for the iPhone 12 go – it won’t just be Samsung providing the goods – as LG too looks to get into the act – being the second supplier for the iPhone 12 lineup. Currently, LG only makes displays for iPhones with LCD screens – along with a rather small number of OLED ones for the older models.
A report stemming from Korea is also claiming that LG has actually received orders for up to 20 million OLED screens for this year’s iPhones – while Samsung picked up on the remaining 55 million orders – out of a grand total of 75 million ones. If this is indeed the truth, then we have a bit of an insight as to what Apple is expecting from one of the four models of its upcoming devices.

Last year as the iPhone 11 series was introduced, Apple launched three models that came within the series. Indeed amongst these phones, OLED versus LCD was a distinguishing factor as the iPhone 11 offered an LCD display, while both the iPhone 11 Pro as well as the iPhone 11 Pro Max offered OLED displays.
This year though, we’re expecting four models : two of which will be base ones, while the other two will be Pro models. We don’t have a lot of information present currently over these devices just yet, but rumors have been very indicative of the point that this year’s flagship series will indeed feature with four models.
This time around, it is expected that all four of these models will feature with an OLED display, with the Pro models expected to arrive with a more sophisticated display when in comparison to the non-pro versions.
