Oops! Apple dual SIM technology might not be for you

RECENTLY Apple is getting too much attention and hype all around the globe as it has introduced its 3 top of the line Smartphones for the year 2018. Moreover, it is for the first time iPhones come with dual SIM technology, but the issue is these versions and innovationmight not for everyone. Pakistani IPhone users will have to wait! Until Apple feels Pakistan is a receptive enough market or cellular operators and regulators also think alike.

These newly released IPhones by Apple, named iPhone XS, its upsized brother iPhone XS Max and the economical iPhone XR come with an eSIM technology which offers second SIM features. Well, all of 3 new smartphones are dual SIM compatible but the second SIM must be an eSIM along cutting-edge electronic subscription technology.

What is an eSIM?

Well, it is a new technology and is a short form for embedded Subscriber Identity Module. The eSIM carries all the carriers towards using one standard chip for SIM, so users can easily change their Sims whenever they want without any difficulty.

In simpler words, it works like a permanent SIM card, the eSIM is inserted right onto a specialized port and stays there permanently no matter the user switches between different networks.

However, the main issue is, this technology isn’t supported by every country. It works for only 10 countries. Unfortunately, Pakistan is one of them.

However, For China (the world’s largest Smartphone market) rules are bit different. Apple chose to roll-out all of these iPhones with two physical trays in China. Hence, Pakistan would not be able to get this dual Sim Technology by Apple.
