PAKISTAN SUPER LEAGUE 2019 LOSES A STAR: DE VILLIERS OUT FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE TOURNAMENT

The world of cricket was in tears when one of the greatest cricketers by the name of AB de Villiers announced retirement from International cricket. It was a sad day. However, retired players still usually participate in different cricket leagues and so was the plan of the South African Cricket Legend. The cherry on top was the fact that AB would be returning to cricket in no other league but the PAKISTAN SUPER LEAGUE! The nation rejoiced on the maestro deciding to be part of the fourth season of the tournament and Lahore was quick to seal the batsman for this edition.

Despite a poor start, with the Qalandars losing a few matches and AB not performing to his incredibly high standards, he was able to regain form and help Lahore to win the next matches resulting in the best performance of Qalandars through all seasons of the PSL. However, he wouldn’t be able to lead them all the following a back injury which has caused him to be side-lined by the doctors.

“It’s a disappointing news for Lahore Qalandars management and its fans that AB de Villiers will not be able to make it for Pakistan’s leg of PSL but we wish him a speedy recover. He is a wonderful player and an amazing person,” Sameen Rana, the manager of Lahore Qalandars said in a statement.

Regarding his inability to play, AB said:

I am very disappointed that I will not be able to play in front of the passionate Pakistani cricket fans. I saw my doctor who has advised complete rest for two weeks and, unfortunately, that rules me out of the games in Karachi.I hope to be a part of the HBL PSL next year and very much hope to play my part in the return of international cricket to the country. I am backing Lahore Qalandars to go all the way and win the trophy this year.

Not just Lahore fans but Pakistani fans would be sad to see such a huge star not coming to Pakistan to play the latter stages of a competition that the nation cherishes. Still, the PSL drama would be greater than ever before as we approach business end of the tournament!
