Robocon, one of the biggest of robotics competitions in Asia, held by the Asian Broadcast Union, is inviting teams from all over Asia to show off their robotic projects.

Teams from 22 countries are participating in this event including China, Japan, and Singapore among others, to show off their cutting-edge engineering and design skills in the field of robotics.

Pakistan is also participating in the event.

A team from a Pakistan is selected after a locally organized competition between local teams. PTV (Pakistan Television) arranged the competition here.

Famous engineering schools from all over Pakistan were present for the local competition. Including National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Foundation for Advancement of Science & Technology (FAST)-NU, University of Engineering & Technology (UET), Lahore, Capital University of Science and Technology and others.

The team from Capital University of Science and Technology had to represent Pakistan. A team of judges reviewed their project that held on June 5th, 2017, at Hamidi Hall, Sports Complex, Islamabad, Pakistan. The team was considered as the best to represent the country at Robocon 2017.

For the main competition, the team from CUST will be heading to Tokyo,  from 27th August.

Robocon has a different theme for the competition each year.  The theme revolves around the word “asobi” (play) this year. This is also a fundamental philosophy behind Robocon.

In “asobi,” playful, unique, original presentation of skills is often more important than winning or losing, as everyone – friend and foe alike – can enjoy them.
