Pakistani Batsman Iftikhar Ahmed sets new record in Australia

So Pakistan’s Middle-order batsman Iftikhar Ahmed has just broken a record previously held by an Australian in the country of Australia. The Batsman has made the highest Twenty20 International (T20I) score while batting at number six in Australia. The record was reset during the second T20I match of the three-match series which occurred between the hosts Australia and the Pakistan Cricket Team on Tuesday in Canberra.

Moreover, the previous record was held by the Australian skipper Aaron Finch who was able to score and impressive knock of an unbeaten 53-runs from only 33 balls while he was batting at number six against the English at  the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in 2011.

Iftikhar’s 34-ball 62 not out, in which he was able to hit five fours and three sixes, helped Pakistan in mustering a competitive total of 150-6, which as we all know was chased by the Australians in under 19 overs, nonetheless, Iftikhar showed signs of a really good batsman and if he continue to play knocks like these, he may well be a force to reckon with. Considering the impact he had on the match and how he was able to carry the team to a competitive total, is truly an amazing feat, which we hope we will continue to see as we move forward. Moreover, in regards to the knock, the middle order Batsman said that

“Wicket wasn’t easy but I always try to be positive as I wanted to play on a ball by ball basis and whenever I could, I attacked and tried to hit boundaries. That improved my strike rate and helped me to make some runs,” said Iftikhar. “I play according to the team’s requirements and try to perform whenever I get the chance to do so.”

All in all it was a really good knock, it was however, rather disappointing that his knock went to waste but we surely hope Pakistan can turn things around in the final T20I of the 3 match series being held in Australia
