PTA has delayed 4G Spectrum Auction on request of Telecom Operators

On the request of Telecom operators,  Pakistan Telecommunication Authority  (PTA )  has delayed the auction for NGMS (Next Generation Mobile Services ) spectrum  (3G/4G ) till 24th May of the current year.

Must remember that Pakistan Telecommunication Authority had earlier announced to hold the auction for NGMS spectrum ( 3G / 4G ) on 16th May this year.

By senior PTA officials,  it was revealed that all telecom operators particularly the Ufone expressed interest in this spectrum. On the plea that their Board meetings need approval and are underway for participation in the auction -operators sought more time.

It was revealed at the same time that all operators including Jazz,  Telenor,  Zong, and Ufone have requested to delay the auction process.

It is estimated that PTA would generate more than the base price of $ 295 million through this auction.

PTA has revised the Information Memorandum and new time lines and dates for the auction of spectrum in the 1800 MHz range has been released in this Information Memorandum shortly known as IM.

Let us see what happens next. Either auction takes place on the recently due date or the interested parties request for more delay, either the event of this auction fulfills the hopes of PTA or happens something unexpected.
