Qandeel Balloch case, verdict finally announced

Furthermore the Model Criminal Trial Court (MCTC) situated in Multan on Friday announced the verdict in the murder case of social media figure Qandeel Baloch awarding life imprisonment to her brother Waseem. In addition to that it has also been found that five other men have been accused and were acquitted  by the Additional District and Sessions Judge (AD&SJ) Imran Shafi who was in charge of carrying out the meeting.

It is worth noting here that in the people who were acquitted there was also the name of the so called Islamic scholar, Mufti Abdul Qavi who in the year when Qandeel was brutally murdered was seen to be part of a video post of the murdered Qandeel Baloch in which both personalities were posing in the video. Moreover, Qandeel Baloch’s brother Aslam Shaheen, her cousin Haq Nawaz, Abdul Basit and Zafar have also been acquitted by the Court. Furthermore, another co-accused Arif, brother of deceased, was declared a proclaimed offender and his trial would be held after his arrest.

Fauzia Azeem who shot to fame through social media with the stage name of Qandeel Baloch was strangled to death by her brother Waseem on July 16, 2016 in the city of Multan.

It is also worth noting here that the parents of Qandeel Baloch had pardoned the accused in the murder case, however, the court decided to move on with the trial. The problem is not with the actor but with perhaps the judgmental generation of Pakistan, the parents have considered this murder as an honor killing and well how many honor killings will it take for the people to understand that this is not the way to go.

The trial had concluded last Thursday and judgement was reserved by the AD&SJ Imran Shafi for Friday.
