Roku and TCL are working on an 8K HDR TV coming in the year of 2019

TCL has established itself as being a fantastic company to deal with when buying a Television device for your home. The company is now reportedly working on an 8K television device in collaboration with their software partner Roku. The two companies have announced the project today and say that TCL will be launching their first 8K TCL Roku TV at the end of the year 2019. “ Roku is developing an 8K hardware reference design which TCL will be the first to liscence”, stated the press release.t

Bothof the companies did not say anything particular major other then providing some information on when the device may be launched, nothing major other then that. Now creating such a device will be a great hurdle for the companies. TV’s nowadays have a lot of available content, especially from websites such as Youtube, but other then that website there is not much you can do for streaming videos. A lot of companies such as Samsung and LG have claimed that their technology will however change just that and in addition to that will provide a noticeable upgrade to their currently used, 4K technology. It is hence, very likely that TCL and Roku will be looking to upgrade and make their TV’s better to provide a unique selling point for consumers.

Moreover, Roku has planned to release a much different hardware reference design with far field microphones which will in turn open up new potential for the Google Assistant or possibly the Amazon Alexa which will support the TV devices directly. As of right now, Roku TVs are compatible with the Google Assistant but it is still not a part of the platform itself and the company is depending on the user to already possess the Google Assistant device. As with their new 8K TV, TCL has stated that it will be the first to launch in the market with built-in microphones sometime in the year of 2019.
