SHADAB KHAN TO BE RESTED TO COME BACK FRESH FOR WORLD CUP

With all the squads been recently announced, Pakistan suffered a big blow with the viral disease which attacked Shadab Khan and forced him to be rested for the series. Recent tests have shown that Shadab Khan needs bed rest and complete following of prescriptions, according to doctors in England. He was subsequently replaced with fellow legspinner Yasir Shah, while the PCB arranged an appointment with a London-based gastroenterology and hepatology specialist. He will now return home from London and undergo another round of blood test in Lahore next month to determine his fitness for the World Cup.

Shadab Khan has been a vital player for Pakistan and had been named for squads for series against England and also the World Cup. The viral infection had caused a major thinking decision for Pakistani coach Mickey Arthur but luckily with the recent test results, there has been a glimmer of renewed hope that would enable him to play in the world cup, with complete fitness.  The PCB can make changes to the squad without seeking ICC permission until May 23. After that date and through the tournament, the ICC’s technical committee will process any replacement requests.

Shadab was the only frontline spinner named in Pakistan’s original 17-man squad to tour England, however, the presence of Mohammad Hafeez, back after a thumb injury, and Imad Wasim gives them options in the spin department for a one-off T20I and a five-match ODI series between May 5 and 19.

The squad selection for this world cup has faced a lot of questions from media and the former cricketers however it is a young squad with a few extremely experienced players and would give a tough time to other teams and who knows, this might just be there where Pakistan establishes world domination by winning the 2019 World Cup.
