Smartisan Nut R1: The first phone with Dirac Panorama Sound

Smartisan Nut R1: The first phone with Dirac Panorama Sound. In a bid to bring immersive sound on small speakers, Dirac Panorama Sound is set to be featured in upcoming smartphones but the Smartisan Nut R1 with a traditional speaker setup (a primary speaker on the bottom for media and a receiver at the top for phone calls) has become the first smartphone to launch with Dirac Panorama Sound.

Sweden-based audio company “Dirac” provides provides tech to smartphones and the tech from this company is found in Xiaomi, OPPO, Huawei, and OnePlus devices. The company work with OEMs to optimize the sound quality in speakers of smartphones, notorious for being bad.

Dirac’s technology called Dirac Panorama Sound can have a drastic impact on mobile devices. This new technology is a solution that optimizes speakers that are positioned only a few inches apart, like speakers found on smartphones.

Dirac Panorama Sound has been added after-the-fact on the test devices, but has never been fully integrated into a smartphone.

The company is using “multiple-input and multiple-output” (MIMO) tech to enable the speakers to coordinate with each other. An extra-wide sound field has been created as a result. This resulted sound field offers the user a surround sound experience from two very small speakers on smartphones under their use.

The new technology Dirac Panorama Sound is quite different from other mobile solutions. The company has patented a sound field control/synthesis technology that could isolate the left and right stereo channels.

Later on, the channels delivered directly to the corresponding ears despite the sound emitting from speakers very close to each other.

The Smartisan Nut R1 The phone with Dirac Panorama Sound is a beast of a phone having a 6.2-inch display with 18.7:9 aspect ratio, 20+12MP dual rear cameras and  24MP front shooter.

The Smartisan Nut R1 has been supported by Snapdragon 845 processor, 6-8GB of RAM, 64GB-1TB(!) of storage and Quick Charge 4, as well as a 3,600 mAh battery.

The Smartisan Nut R1 variants have been priced between $550 and $1,400 and it is available right now.

Dirac’s goal with this new technology is to disrupt the smartphone market and to spur a larger focus on audio quality. No doubt the built-in speakers on most smartphones are not very good and technology like Panorama Sound can greatly improve the experience sans requiring better hardware.
