Player Unknown’s Battleground, in short titled as PUBG has just recently reached a milestone, which not many game developers can boast about – that of reaching a hundred million downloads, for its mobile version. Even more impressive is that the game was released just four months ago, so all of these hundred million downloads took place in such a short span of time. The game is available to download for free, on both iOS and Android.

The news that the game was downloaded more than a hundred million times was announced this Thursday, by the game’s developer – PUBG Corp. And if you think the statistic that the game was downloaded more than a hundred million times isn’t impressive enough, consider the stat that the game became the most downloaded title in one hundred countries during its first week after release.

As previously mentioned, the mobile version is free software, however, this isn’t the case with the Xbox and the PC version. These versions were released in early access in 2017. And although the mobile version is free, much like the other free-to-play titles, the mobile version does actually make use of micro transactions in order to generate income, so the developers profit, one way or the other.

The release of the game also touted the mobile version’s recent partnership with the Mission: Impossible – – Fallout film, and due to this, the addition of the movie’s music and themed outfits were made easier to the game itself.

The news for PUBG’s milestone came as soon as Fortnite, from Epic Games began rolling out to Android, just this month. Fortnite, which at first started out with the Samsung galaxy phones, and expanding further from thereon, will be looking to give some competition to PUBG, and Fortnites developers will be looking for accolades, and awards for themselves.

It won’t be wrong to say that Fortnite has enjoyed major success. GameSpot has reported in the past that the game had already passed a hundred million downloads in mobile in July, and at the time, the game was only available to download for iPhones and iPad, because of the fact that the game wasn’t actually available on Android.

Now that both Fortnite and PUBG are available in Android, it would be fun to see which game dominates the Android gaming market for the time ahead.
