Sophia the robot needs your help for her brain

Sophia,  the Saudi citizen and a humanoid robot by Hanson Robotics, is asking the public to help her by funding her Artificial Intelligence (AI).

In a video Sophia announced the details of the next token sale for SingularityNET, that is an open source platform for AI and machine learning to power her “brain” and other endless robots. Blockchain technology will be managing transactions on this open AI ecosystem.

The token sale has been scheduled to begin on Dec. 8, 2017. There is no minimum contribution amount, so anyone of you can participate. The token sale will end when 500 million tokens valued at $36 million are sold out. The exact amount would be depending on the pending private sales.

The purpose of SingularityNET is to create a global and decentralized marketplace for AI. Developers do typically work for corporations to create Artificial Intelligence for specific tasks or products. Then, Corporations hold on tight to any of intellectual property that offers them a competitive advantage.

An open marketplace could possibly help solve this information hoarding problem by making AI much more accessible to the public and  by giving developers some new way to monetize their work.

This project is being led by CEO Dr. Ben Goertzel, an expert artificial general intelligence (AGI), which is an emerging field aimed at creating machines and systems that are smart like humans.

The team of this project also includes Sophia’s creator and founder of Hanson Robotics, Dr. David Hanson, blockchain expert Simone Giacomelli, and Sophia Hanson, officially “Chief Humanoid” at SingularityNet.

The SingularityNET team in a whitepaper explains that the company “operates on a belief that the benefits of AI should not be dominated by any small set of powerful institutions, but shared by all.”

The team also say that a key goal is to ensure that the technology is benevolent according to human standards, and the network has been designed to incentivize and reward beneficial players.

Anyone of you can enter an AI or machine learning service into the network to get paid in AGI tokens managed by Fintech startup Cindicator. Tokens are not exactly cold, hard cash, but anyone having them can shop within the platform or exchange their tokens with other people owning any other fiat or cryptocurrency.
