The iPhone SE 2020 boots using the motherboard found on the iPhone 8

While the Covd-19 pandemic continues to spread its danger all across the globe, Apple was up to other stuff. Indeed while most of us have been wasting our time during the lock down, Apple actually went over and did something productive – launching a sub $500 iPhone. Needless to say, this decision by the company surprised many – mainly because of the price. iPhone SE 2020 boots using the motherboard found on the iPhone 8.

The newly released iPhone SE 2020 features as the cheapest iPhone ever after the original one was launched four years ago, back in 2016. In order to put such a cheap price tag on its latest iPhone, Apple decided to place the same chassis and components within the device that were also found in the iPhone 8 – a phone which made its way into the market three years ago, in 2017. A tear down video found on YouTube goes on to confirm any such claims – with the person even managing to boot the new device from Apple with the same motherboard of the older model.

If Apple is known for one thing – it is expensive products. However, it seems as if the company’s business strategy is changing a bit. Indeed after aggressively pricing both the iPad 7th generation as well as the iPhone 11 from last year, Apple has just gone on to undercut Android OEMs as the company has launched the $399 iPhone SE 2020, which also features with the flagship A13 Bionic chipset.

The company was successful in attaining such a feat because of the fact that only the chip, rear camera and battery connector are actually different. Other components though are much similar to those that we saw on the iPhone 8. This of course is proven by the swapping of motherboards mentioned earlier.

With that said, if the iPhone 8 motherboard is in fact used, the handset boots up normally and also most everything works just like it’s supposed to – including the display, speaker, haptic engine and even the front camera.
