UK asks its citizens to freely visit Pakistan and plan road tours to North

UK eases travel advisory for Pakistan, paving the way for UK national citizens to visit Pakistan freely and go anywhere they want. In a video message by Christian Turner, the British high commissioner to Pakistan, on his twitter handle confirmed that Britain after the royal visit softens its travel advisory for its citizens to visit Pakistan.

After the move, now UK citizens are able to visit every corner of Pakistan freely amid improved security in Pakistan. UK had placed Pakistan on its advisory after 9/11 attacks. The move followed by other European nations. 

The British move comes after the successful royal visit last year and six months after the resumption of British airways in Pakistan.

The decision came after a long assessment of the
security situation in Pakistan.

“Today’s announcement is the result of a comprehensive review of UK travel advice for Pakistan, based on a wide-ranging assessment of the country’s security situation,” the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) official statement reads.

Turner, the HC of Britain made review of travel advice his priority after his arrival in Pakistan. “It is great credit to the hard work of the Government of Pakistan in delivering improved security over the past five years. I am delighted that British nationals will be able to see more of what Pakistan has to offer.’’ Said Turner in his tweet.

“Among other changes the advice now allows [UK citizens] to travel by road to the north of the country,” Turner added.

Prime Minister Imran Khan welcomed the decision of UK. In his tweet he said, “This is great news as it will address two most important econ issues facing Pak today: employment and our current account deficit, by bringing in tourism and investment which in turn will provide employment opportunities, especially for our youth,”

Prime Minister Imran Khan also urged US President Donald Trump to review its travel advice for Pakistan.

The news would inject a breath of fresh air into the tourism sector of Pakistan, also the overall image building of Pakistan will be improved. The citizens of the UK are now allowed to travel by road to the north of Pakistan to witness the breathtaking beauty of northern areas in Pakistan. Government is focusing on developing new tourist sites in northern areas. It is expected that in coming years the tourism will boost many times.
