UN women delegation calls on Anusha Rehman

UN women delegation calls on Anusha Rehman. A three -member delegation of UN Women led by UN Women Pakistan country representative Jamshed Qazi, called on Minister of State for IT and Telecom Mrs Anusha Rehman here , at  MoIT today (Monday).
The delegation discussed  collaboration on economic empowerment of women in far flung areas of the country by using modern technological means.
Anusha Rehman said that UN-women has a great contribution in the arena of women empowerment through out the globe. Unwomen and ITU both recognized our flagship project “ICT for Girls” in 2015 and recognised as Gloabal Achiever. We have established 150 state of the art computer labs in women empowerment Centrs of Baitul Mal etc,  where thousands of girls of marginalized segments are learning modern techniques of Coding and computing through @Microsoft and and earn heir livelihood honorably while sitting at their homes as well. Therefore Pakistan is being ranked number 04 in the world in free lancing and now we are committed to further improve this ranking through a  “DigiSkills program” where one million people will be trained in the “Free lancing” online and we are ready to formally inaugurate that by next month. She added.
Minister IT apprised the delegates that we are developing an online “Made in Pakistan” portal where we are bringing a cluster of 1000 companies on line which include carpet, furniture, leather and other such industries to further promote e-commerce in the Country.
The delegates appreciated the initiatives of the Minister for the welfare an empowerment of women and girls..
Mr. Jamshed Qazi while appreciating the initiatives of Ministry of IT stated that UN Women intends to  collaborate with MOIT to achieve common objectives of women empowerment by using latest technologies.Both the sides agreed to further explore the areas of mutual collaboration.
The delegates thanked the Minister for  extending her  cooperation to UN Women.
