Vivo Patents A Phone With A Rotating Lower Display

Not so long ago, phone manufacturers were extra creative with phone designs so as to come up with something different. At the very forefront of such a ideas was Nokia – which of course reached great heights as a phone manufacturer at the height of its powers. With that said, not so long ago, it wasn’t too unusual to see devices which had to the potential to be bent, folded or indeed twisted into various different forms. Now though – we may actually be looking to dive once again into such concepts as Vivo is now seemingly going to take a modern approach and establish one of the old designs into an entirely new one.

In particular, the Nokia 5700 XpressMusic featured with a rotatable lower half which allowed users to turn the keyboard back so users could use it as a dedicated payback control or indeed to the side so that users, in that way, could point its side-mounted camera right towards the subject while in fact looming towards the screen itself. Imagine a similar concept to this with a modern take – and we see what Vivo might be looking to pull off sometime in the future as a device with a rather similar idea has been patented by the Chinese company.

The patent diagram goes on to show a phone with a full-screen design with a lower part which can be rotated 180 degrees. As we base our claims on the diagram itself, the device actually seems to be made up of two different screens – one of which is a larger portion, while the other being a rotatable lower one.

Indeed the diagrams go on to suggest that the bottom screen can be used even when it happens to be rotated towards the back. In one of the images that have made their way online, we see the QWERTY keyboard while on the other, we see that the user can in fact scribble on the screen. Another possible use of the screen might in fact be to display notifications or indeed as a viewfinder for the rear cameras when the user would want to take a selfie.
