Zartaj Gul and 50 Others Booked on Terrorism Charges for Inciting Violence

Former Federal Minister of Climate Change and prominent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader, Zartaj Gul, along with over 50 protestors, have been booked on charges of terrorism for allegedly inciting violence against the armed forces during recent protests.

Dera Ghazi Khan police have registered a case against the PTI members, including Ms. Zartaj Gul and a former adviser to the CM, under the Anti-Terrorism Act and other relevant laws.

Allegedly, the PTI leaders chanted anti-government and anti-army slogans, inciting the masses to destroy public infrastructure, according to the First Information Report (FIR) lodged by the police. The FIR also mentioned that the protesters attacked the police and blocked roads when instructed to step back. The report further stated that Ms. Gul, Hanif Patafi, Malik Iqbal Saqib, Ruqiya Ramzan, and 25 nominated and 30 unidentified persons blocked the Indus Highway and other city arteries.

The police also accused Ms. Gul and other PTI members of spreading fear in the area by setting fire to state-owned and private properties.

On 12th May 2023, Dera Ghazi Khan police registered a case against Zartaj Gul and over 50 other protestors under the Anti-Terrorism Act and other charges. The charges are related to their alleged involvement in violent protests and inciting violence against the armed forces.

PTI Leaders’ Alleged Involvement in Violent Protests
