BUS ACCIDENT AT BABUSAR PASS LEAVES 26 DEAD

A massive number of tourists, local and international head up to the cooler northern regions in the summer for peace of mind. This can often lead to traffic jams on dangerous roads. And with only recent developments making areas in the northern region accessible, the roads are not a lot in quantity, and thus drivers have to make way with the available routes meaning driving cautiously throughout the trip. However, an unfortunate incident has left 26 people killed at Babusar pass. A bus belonging to Mashabrum tours detoured towards a mountain causing a huge accident.

Mashabrum tours is a private bus company that transport passengers to Skardu, Hunza and Gilgit. Diamer police was on the scene and are still unsure about the incident and how to the driver lost control of the vehicle. Passengers included army troops and emergency teams, including helicopters were dispatched for quick transportation of the deceased and the injured people to the nearest hospital. Other authorities were also quick to respond to the incident as a Pakistan Army helicopter was provided for the transportation of the injured to the Gilgit hospital.

The Babusar Pass road is a rather busy road at this time of the year as it is not blocked by snow. The period of frequent travel is from the end of June to October every year. Babusar top itself is an interest point for a lot of passer-bys. It is a beautiful region and also connects to the upper northern regions.
