Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Bajwa has Gotten the All Clear from PM Imran Khan to Extend his Tenure

The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan has just approved a three-year extension for the service of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, which will see his tenure increase from 3 years to 6 years. Keeping that in mind the PM Office formally issued a statement which read that, “General Qamar Javed Bajwa is appointed Chief of Army Staff for another term of three years from the date of completion of current tenure. The decision has been taken in view of the regional security environment,”

It is worth noting over here that the Army General was set to retire this year in the month of November but keeping in mind the current regional security threats the country is facing and seeing as how necessary it is to have a stable and reliable control over the armed forces of Pakistan, on the request of the COAS,his tenure has been increased by 3 years and this has been approved by the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Moreover, the COAS  was appointed as the chief of army staff by the former Prime Minister, Mian Nawaz Sharif in November 2016 and was given a three year tenure as the leading General of the Armed forces of Pakistan. Following the officiating of his extension, this will be the second time in the last one decade or so that a General from this country has had his tenure extended by another three years.
