DG ISPR issues Cyber Alert and warns users about fake email

DG ISPR issues Cyber Alert and warns users about fake email. In a recent tweet, Major General Asif Ghafoor, Director General Inter Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) has alerted all Pakistanis about a cyber attack that illegally uses ISPR’s identity to spread fake information and for phishing purposes.

According to Gen Asif Ghafoor, the purpose of this new cyber attack is phishing and that despite ISPR name, it has nothing to do with ISPR.

In a tweet from his personal account that, DG ISPR said:

“A malicious email is sent from [email protected] using name of ISPR. It is clarified that this is a phishing email which has no link to ISPR. If received please don’t open it, report it as spam and delete.”

How to Avoid This Phishing Attack

Users are advised to not to open any kind of email using ISPR name. Instead, they should immediately mark it as spam and delete it at once.

Asif Ghafoor advised that do not open or provide any information. He further advised against providing any information to the ‘[email protected]’ email, saying that:

“If opened inadvertently please don’t click on any link asking for information to be entered into a form or to unsubscribe. Clicking any link can compromise security of your PC / cell phone / iPad etc.”

On the other hand, he declared that ISPR does not own any dot Press domain and that “ISPR’s official domain name is www.ispr.gov.pk. There is no other domain.

If you received the email then “Do Not Open It” and before deleting first thing you need to do is to mark it as a spam.  After marking spam then delete it. You can share this message to your friends and family so that no one get victim to this phishing scam.
