Donald Trump is not invited to Prince Harry’s wedding

Donald Trump is not invited to Prince Harry’s wedding. As the big day ceremonies are on the way for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry and they will tie the knot at 19th May 2018, the news about the guests at this event say Theresa May has not been invited.

The astonishing fact is that US president Donald Trump and his predecessor Barack Obama are not expected to enjoy this event.  However speculation is that Obamas expected to get an invitation because of their burgeoning friendship with Prince Harry and it would have been diplomatically awkward to invite the Obamas while missing the current first couple.

Previously, the Obamas did not miss out to congratulate the happy couple on their engagement back in Autumn, and they made this statement while wishing the couple: “Michelle and I are delighted to congratulate Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on their engagement. We wish you a lifetime of joy and happiness together.”

A royal source says that guests at this upcoming marriage ceremony will be only the existing direct relatives with one or both of the couple.

According to an official spokesman for Prince Harry, the decision has been made not to get an official list of political leaders of UK and international for this wedding. He added “Her Majesty’s government was consulted on this decision, which was taken by the royal household.”

On the other side, a government source says that the wedding venue, St George’s Chapel in Windsor, was notably smaller than Westminster Abbey where Prince William, Harry’s older brother married Kate Middleton 7 years ago, and a number of heads of government were invited there.

It is also being said that there had been no expectation from Downing Street that the prime minister would be invited at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding.

Deciding not to invite the political leaders would nothing more than a break with the tradition of the royal family.
