Facebook introduces new button to evade the fake news

In the online world where everyone is allowed to share or say anything, it’s hard to distinguish either the news source is true or false. Finally, someone took this issue seriously as in a bid to make the users more aware, Facebook has introduced a new button on its platform.

Soon users would be able to see the button on top of articles shared on Facebook and this button will provide context to the readers in perspective so that they are able to make a sensible choice about whether to read the news and trust the source. No need to worry about the rumors or source of news.

Facebook is going to introduce the button ‘i’ and when users will click on the ‘i’ (information) button will see relevant information related to article and news story either from Facebook or from outside sources.

According to Facebook,

“The additional contextual information is pulled from across Facebook and other sources, such as information from the publisher’s Wikipedia entry, a button to follow their Page, trending articles or related articles about the topic, and information about how the article is being shared by people on Facebook.”

In some cases, if that information is unavailable, we will let people know, which can also be helpful context.” The Facebook official added.

The trend of spreading false and fake news just to get more like or views on the platform is getting high day by day. When users didn’t find the source of news, It’s hard for them to believe or not.

Facebook perceives that by showing the information button it will be able to bring a standstill point to the trend of spreading false and fake news on social media. Facebook made it clear that this update will not affect Facebook pages in any way.
