FIA OFFICIAL ARRESTED FOR SMUGGLING PHONES

An official of the FIA (Federal Investigation Agency) has been arrested for the smuggling of more than 60 mobile phones. This does not come as a shock as the arrested official was on the FIA’s watchlist for over a month and was also previously suspected of doing the act he was finally caught in, the difference being the presence of proof this time around. He was sidelined by the officials in the airport for a detailed check of the baggage and was then found guilty of smuggling smartphones within the country. He also identified two more individuals involved in the act, among them were sub-inspector Javed Iqbal, Akhtar Iqbal and Constable Waqas Bhatti.

DG Bashir Memon made it very clear that there was no place for illegal activities in a federal agency like the FIA and was going to submit a report on the matter at the earliest.

This has been part of a series of events this year in which the ASF caught FIA officials involved in such activities. According to ASF, Rs 150000 were recovered from one of the two FIA officials who were arrested at the Jinnah International Aiport in Karachi. Apart from them were a huge amount of drugs, the value of which was estimated to be around millions of rupees.

The hike of mobile prices has seen people trying illegal methods to obtain phones which have become too expensive for them to afford. On top of this list, seems to be FIA officials who are misusing the trust that comes with the job and smuggling things within the country for a side-business of their own. Such activities should promptly be caught and serious action should be taken so that such activities do not happen again in the future.
