Lahore: Your e-challan will be sent home in case of traffic violation

Lahore: Another great step toward digital Pakistan has been taken by the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) in collaboration with the City Traffic Police (CTP). Now you will get the e-challan at your home in case of any kind of traffic rules violation.

Well, this is appreciative as after a long debate and trial testing, now finally Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has officially implemented the E-Challan system in Lahore.

The objective behind this move is to control the growing number of violations across the city.

In this regard, the warning boards have already been displayed by the PSCA showing the message that “E-Challan has been started in Lahore” to notify the citizens of Lahore to carefully drive.

It is important to mention here that the new operation of the e-challan system will be run and monitored from by PSCA’s in collaboration with the traffic police of Lahore at electronic ticketing center. It will operate under the compliance of Motor Vehicles Ordinance under Section 116-A of traffic rules.

Moreover, soon this system will be applied in all parts of Punjab as PSCA is planning to implement the similar system all over the Punjab.

On the other hand, every violation has been stated with a particular amount of fine to be charged from the violator. From now you have to be very careful during driving, as no excuse will be considered and you will get e-challan at your home addresses registered against your vehicle IDs.

Now, modern Automatic Vehicle Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras have been installed by PSCA across different roads of the city. Any kind of traffic violators would be identified with the help of these cameras.

For now, the e-challan will be issued just on the violation of the red signal; however, those involved in other types of traffic violations will also be dealt with by electronic means.

What is the time limit to deposit fine?

You must have to pay your fine in 10 days or the amount might be doubled. Regular violations or non-payment of the fine can cause seize the vehicle by the traffic police.

Where to deposit violation challan?

As per the PSCA resources, the challan amount could be deposited in the branches of Bank of Punjab initially. However, similar talks are in progress with National Bank of Punjab for the deposition of challan amount to make possible the public at different banks.
