Ufone set to go 4G/LTE

Yes people you heard that right, Ufone seems to be set to introduce there 4G LTE services across Pakistan after a reliable source has confirmed the company’s plans.

Morever recent  reports have suggested that Ufone’s 4G services are already made available for customers in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, Ufone has confirmed has since confirmed there plans to folks at ProPakistani. Furthermore many users in Islamabad and Rawalpindi have shared with people the new experience of the 4G LTE, on Twitter.

At the moment Ufone have not confirmed the cities which they will be targeting to launch there services in but sources have revealed that Ufone will be launching the 4G all across Pakistan but in phases.

The sources further suggested, we know that Ufone 4G/LTE is available in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, starting immediately while major metropolitan cities including Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, and Karachi will get Ufone 4G/LTE in the next few weeks which has brought joy in to lives of Ufone users all over the country. Ufone in the past stood firm in there belief that their 3G speeds  if service is maintained and run efficiently, is more than enough for users in Pakistan. However, with this new decision, it seems that the company is all set to change there strategy, mainly because the company believes that the 4G market is ripe now and 4G handset penetration has improved as well, making the overall conditions enough to invest in 4G/LTE.

Now many will argue with the fact that Ufonewill be launchingits 4G servicewithout a license, but the company made it clear that theyhave obtained all the necessary, regulatory approvals needed to launch there version of the 4G/LTE in Pakistan. What this means is that the company will be launching 4G services within its currently available spectrum. Furthermore another cause for concern was about the total available spectrum thatUfonecurrently has under its belt, as the service quality for 2G and 3G customers could be impacted if Ufone’s limited spectrum is further split up to offer the 4G services as well.

But when asked this question, Ufoneresponded fairly confident that with the launch of 4G/LTE, existing GSM customers and their much appreciated experience will not be impacted with the addition of this new technology and they would fully comply with the Network QoS KPIs specified for these services.
