Check out Sony new design philosophy revealed in leaked photo of Xperia XZ2 Compact

Apart from the fact that Sony is expected to make a great splash at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2018 this year will be out of the ordinary for Sony. The reason is confirmed change in its design direction.



In the past, we have witnessed abundance of Sony smartphones following its ‘Omnibalance’ design philosophy, which really looked modern, flat and nearly equal when viewed from the sides.

However, along with this half a decade-old design idea in 2017 Sony made smartphones with thick bezels. In this year, even budget smartphones came with taller 18:9 displays with thin bezels.

Well, with New Year now we are new hopes regarding a major redesign of upcoming handsets in 2018.

In this regard, Sony India’s managing director, Kenichiro Hibi confirmed at a recent launch event in India, that soon we will spot a brand-new design with its upcoming Xperia flagship.

Moreover, the director also confirmed that Sony was working on a brand new series of devices and would soon launch a “new generation of products” in order to create a new design philosophy where its customers feel its presence.

At the same time when rumours about a full-screen display on a flagship smartphones ripe, Sony released a teaser video on its social media channels a few days ago. In this video they hinted at what emerged to be a curve or a sign for its upcoming products.

After that video, a new leak revealed by a commenter at the Xperia Blog, in which a leaked image online spotted

Well, looking at aimage we got clear idea that it’s a more rounded design with an actually curved (read rounded) back. Thre is an aluminium frame along with the front screen which seems to be well-rounded and flawless with the display that appears taller, other than not bezel-less.

According to the Xperia Blog, Sony could be diving into new experimenting with its ‘plate+human’ design theory which was revealed in a leaked document back in 2015.

On the other hand, we can also expect the presence of a back with a soft material, which could hint at the make use of silicon leather textures on the back. It will be more pleasing to hold, definitely lending to the premium experience.

So it seems like that Sony is staying true to its roots in 2018. Should the XZ2 Compact revealed in the above image turn out to into reality. If yes, then we could have the first smartphone in a long run that really brings back the curved back.

 It might add some much need creativity and novelty to what appears to be a typically boring forecast for 2018 in terms of design.

On the other hand, 2019 could be special in the sense that it is Samsung’s 10th year anniversary meaning that we could spot folding smartphones (or phablets) following its bezel-less Infinity displays. May be
