YouTube introduces new tool to stop piracy; unauthorized uploads. To earn profit on YouTube, nowadays a new ploy is used by people and channels as they re-upload videos and try to profit from other people’s work. However YouTube has added a new tool named “copyright match” that automatically scans every newly uploaded video to check if it’s a re-upload of an existing video or “very similar” to a video that’s already on the site.

The move was taken by platform to protect the video and content of Copyright owners. Although, there are already many ways to protect the content of real owners of the video from scammers but this new tool will help in a better way.

It is important to mention here that this new tool won’t work for clips, just full videos. Moreover, YouTube also mentions that it’s important that the creator is the first person to upload the video as timing of uploading is significant and will help to show matches.

You may find this new tool much like YouTube’s existing Content ID program, but it’s slightly different although it uses very similar technology underneath. According to the company, this tool is explicitly meant to identify unauthorized re-uploads.

On the other hand, “Content ID” is mostly used for the copyright owners of music and music videos, trailers and recordings of performances.

This new copyright match tool will start function from the end of month of July and will roll out to all creators with more than 100,000 subscribers. Over the next few months, the YouTube will roll it out to a wider base of users.
