Samsung wins two ‘Social Responsibility’ awards at the 5th CSR Summit

The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives of Samsung Electronics (Pakistan) Ltd. won two prestigious accolades at the ‘5th Annual CSR Summit and CSR Gallery’, organized by ‘The Professionals Network’ (TPN) and ‘Ethical Business Update’ (EBU) in Karachi, recently. This is the first and only CSR awards forum in Pakistan which is officially registered with IPO.

The President of SamsungElectronices Pakistan – Mr. J. H. Lee along with the ‘Head of Marketing &Communications’ at SamsungElectronices – M. Saad ul Hassan, personally attended the 5th CSR Summit, to receive these prestigious awards, granted to Samsung in the categories of ‘Public Health & Safety’ and ‘Crisis & Disaster Assistance’.

The President of Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry – Mr. Yonus Muhammad Bashir was the Chief Guest at the ceremony, accompanied by high-level diplomats from the Consulates of USA, Netherlands, and Switzerland.

Samsung’s ‘Public Health and Safety’ initiatives include its donation of 2 hi-tech Echocardiography units and one Ultrasound Color Doppler machine to Jinnah Hospital Karachi. Samsung is also donating well equipped mobile health units, to the Punjab and KPK governments, for providing Free-of-Cost treatment to thousands of poor patients.

The Crisis/Disaster Assistance Award was granted as Samsung Pakistan has always been at the forefront of large-scale relief and rehabilitation activities, whenever the country has suffered from natural disasters like earth-quakes or floods. Over the years, Samsung has extended generous help in fulfilling the basic food and shelter needs of thousands of families, left homeless after such calamities.

Other major initiatives by Samsung include the support to a resourceful ‘Technology Incubator’ in Pakistan named – ‘The Nest I/O’ which is nurturing talents and research in the country. Samsung has also collaborated with Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) to offer training courses for repair and maintenance of; Mobile phones, Air conditioners, Refrigerators and other home appliances.

Mr. J.H. Lee, President Samsung Electronics Pakistan stated that; My vision is to inspire the world and create better future for the people of Pakistan.  I believe that company’s success is measured not only by business achievements but also by how well it serves it the community.
