820 Kilometer optic fibre cable is now available for commercial use, project shows the strong relationship between Pak-China

So some good news has come Pakistan’s way, the 820-kilometer long Pak-China fiber link project which will in turn supply the use of internet for people is now in its final stages. The new link of fibre optic cables will start from Rawalpindi and at Khunjerab for commercial use and is set to give Pakistan some very good benefits.

This project will a important role in the commercialization of the various Pak-China projects. A spokesperson from the Special Communications Organizations (SCO) on Friday stated that this cable will help link Pakistan and China to the rest of the world. He further added, “The completion of the project holds milestone importance.”

Furthermoreit should be noted that this very important project cost a lot, according to reports the expenditure bill on the said project was somewhere around $44 million which was covered thanks to an 85% concessionary loan from the Exim Bank of China. The procurement and construction (EPC) contractor of this project was Huawei while the project is owned by a Pakistan military-run SCO and its engineering unit.

This project is set to bring loads of benefits for bothparties in many ways, in addition to thingsthe project is seemingly, the first cross-border contact between the two neighbouring countries. Furthermorethe SCO spokesperson added on the occasion and highlighted the fact that this project will dramatically help improve the internet traffic from China, Middle East to Africa and Europe.

Moving on, in terms of the engineering of the said project, the project starts from Islamabad, the 18.2 kilometers portion of the cable will pass, 466 kilometers in Gilgit-Baltistan, 280 kilometers in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) and 47 kilometers of the cable will pass through Punjab. The cable will also pass relatively rural and undeveloped cities of Karimabad, Gilgit, Chilas, Babusar Top, Naran, Mansehra, and JaryKas to reach Islamabad, and the highest point the cable will reach is definitely the Khunjerab Pass.
