OnePlus consumer data once again breached

Once again, OnePlus is in the news for all the wrong reasons as the smartphone manufacturer’s customer data has yet again been subject to being breached. Not so long ago, the Chinese manufacturer came ahead with an announcement that said that some of its customer’s information like “name, contact number, email and shipping address with certain orders” has been exposed – a direct consequence of the latest breach. Though the users may breathe a sigh of relief as more sensitive information like payment information, passwords and accounts are indeed safe.

While the company has not confirmed the exact number of users that have been affected by the data breach, the manufacturer has indeed confirmed that emails have been sent out to all those who have had their data breached. If you’re a user of OnePlus and want to check whether or not your data is safe, have a glance over to your inbox to see whether or not you have received an email from the company.

It has been since noted by many that the official website of OnePlus seems to be the point of the breach, however, since then, the company has gone on to assure users that it has thoroughly inspected the website in an attempt to make sure that there are no similar security flaws. The Chinese manufacturer further commented by stating that affected users may further receive spam or phishing emails as a direct consequence of this incident.

Just last year in January, OnePlus was in a similar situation to what it is currently in, as credit card information of more than 40,000 OnePlus customers was breached via the company’s OnePlus.net website. However, unfortunately enough – for this breach, the company has not yet revealed the magnitude of things. Whether or not it decides to release the exact figure of affected users remains to be seen, however, for the time being, it needs to make sure that better security measures are implemented so that an event like this does not take place again.
