Moreover the reason for the drop is still not clear, but authorities have been known ti increasingly crack down on these Illegal callers. The Federal Trade Commission has brought several lawsuits, while the Federal Communication Commission has considered many regulations to deal with the issue. The issue does however continue to be a source of increase elsewhere, take Brazil for example, this country is found to be the most spammed country of the year 2018, with the average Truecaller user getting upwards of 37 spam calls a month. This was likely due to the calls from telecom operators and calls made related to the general election, the company stated. Moreover, in to India, they were the most spammed country of the previous year 2017, buy it has since then dropped down to the 2nd number with an estimated decrease of 1.5%.

Finally, Truecaller says that in total, its users received upwards of 17 billion spam calls between January and October. The reported counted a call as spam if it was flagged by algorithms or manually by the users. Now since Truecaller does not count data outside of its customer based, its results may not be all that accurate, because a bug chunk of the population does not have or use Truecaller. Moreover, another report however reported that 28.5 Billion calls occurring in the USA within the first eight months of this year, a figure which easily surpasses the overall global figure that Truecaller has provided.
