5TH GENERATION HONDA CITY 2020 UNVEILED

Honda is in Thailand and has just taken the curtains off of its latest Honda City Generation. Characterized by drastic design changes, a more powerful engine which is more fuel-efficient as well.

Inspired by the grills of the Accord and Civic, City is adopting the company’s new design philosophy, although it is quite late too the party. Infact, The City present in Pakistan, is even further down in the generation line compared to the rest of the world.With wraparound LED headlamps that have Daytime Running Lights installed in them. It features newly-drawn fog lamps and a fashioned hood that looks a lot like the Civic.

For ergonomics, Honda has added a contour line on the sides of the car which add to the styling of the car and makes it more striking and aggressive. The side-mirrors are also moved to the door for better side visibility with curves around the rear end of the car helping further.

The interior needed a much required refresh and it has gotten one. There is an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system which is not tilted towards the driver which makes it accessible to others as well, which is always a plus compared to CIVIC. Talking about the infotainment, it is worth noting that it has android Auto and Apple Car Play support. The AC configuration panel has been changed to touch-sensitive controls and the airvents are vertically adjusted for better airflow inside the cabin.

With regards to the engine it is a three-cylinder 1.0 liter (998cc) turbo engine boasting a BorgWarner single-scroll turbocharger that churns out 122hp and 173Nm of torque. This will prove to be less fuel-hungry and more powerful for on overall better ride quality.

The new Honda City interestingly is cheaper than the outgoing model (in the Thai market). Here are the prices of each variant:

  • Standard S variant — Rs. 2.9 million (579,000 baht)
  • V variant — Rs. 3.1 million (609,000 baht)
  • SV trim — Rs. 3.4 million (665,000 baht)
  • Flagship RS — Rs. 3.9 million (739,000 baht)
