Eric Schmidt steps down from Executive Chairman of Google’s Parent company Alphabet

Eric Schmidt steps down from Executive Chairman of Google’s Parent company Alphabet. A recent statement came out from Alphabet which has confirmed that Eric Schmidt, who has been working with Google’s parent company Alphabet as an executive chairman of the board of directors, for a long time has decided to step down.

As the longtime Alphabet’s executive has decided to move into a lower position as “technical advisor” from a major role.

As for now, he will continue to work and stay on the Alphabet’s board of directors, and the company is in search of finding a new non-executive chairman for the board.

On the other hand, the detailed of Schmidt’s new role as a technical advisor has not been elaborated yet.

The decision was made and revealed after consulting with Google’s founders Larey Page and Sergey Brin as well as Google CEO Sundar Pichai as leaving such an important role was a big pronouncement. As Eric said,

“Larry, Sergey, Sundar and I all believe that the time is right in Alphabet’s evolution for this transition.”

Eric was doing a good job in his domain and has been frequently working for Google and Alphabet in policy-making. He joined Google back in 2001 and also had good terms with Obama’s administration; though, that scenario has altered in view of the fact that Donald Trump took charge.

In recent times, he also came into view in a discussion and talked about his viewpoint that Google’s is setting up to de-rank Russian sites, which are circulating fake news on the social network.

In the meantime, Alphabet is likely to select a new chairman at a meeting next month. Though, Eric will be continuing as the member of the Alphabet’s board of directors until 2024.

Even though Alphabet has not explained much that why a shiftng is taking place once again, however the company’s declaration seems optimistic and constructive about his working time period,

“Since 2001, Eric has provided us with business and engineering expertise and a clear vision about the future of technology, during his 17 years of service to the company”.

It is important to mention here that Eric has also contributed as CEO of Google and he continued his services for tech giant as a CEO until 2011.He had done a lot of improvements and made many advances in Google during his tenure.

Yet, after a major reform in 2015, when a new-fangled company Alphabet was created he turns out to be the executive chairman of it as well.
