Fault in undersea submarine cable disrupts Internet supply to Pakistan

It has been observed that two major submarine cables that connect Pakistan with the outside world went down on Tuesday evening

According to the details, IMEWE and SEAMEWE 4, which control almost 50% of the internet traffic from Pakistan, went offline due to a technical fault. It is pertinent to mention here that the location of the fault is yet to be determined.

Following the issue, several internet users in Pakistan to face the degraded internet speeds until the faults in the submarine cables are fixed.

The Internet Services Providers have confirmed that outage and said that they are in the process of shifting the internet load to other submarine systems, which will balance the load to an extent.

ISPs further said that the internet services, however, may remain degraded until the full restoration of IMEWE and SEAMEWE 4.

The internet users of Nayatel and PTCL are currently facing the degraded internet speed in several areas of the country. On the other hand, several mobile network providers, including Zong and Ufone are also been affected by the internet outage in Pakistan.
