FLAGSHIP PHONES DON’T LEAD INNOVATION ANYMORE

This might be unpopular opininion amongst people but it seems increasingly accurate how companies tried initially to bring the most innovative features in their most expensive flagship phones. However, these days, it is just about getting the flagship phones specced up and that’s it! There seems to be no innovation, nothing to set them apart from each other. Even the camers sensors are being repeated across devices.

Lets begin with some examples. We can take the Galaxy S series from Samsung. There was a time when the phones had buttons, but Samsung brought the innovation and made their phones buttonless. And the curves made the phones look sleeker and also added much functionality. Lately, all it has been doing is no focus on design, nor any defining features. Getting the best specs inside phones is the requirement that companies have been completing, including Samsung.

Second on the list is LG. LG had curved phones with buttons on the back, probably the most innovative of all smartphones recently resided to the strategy of the big guns of not using such features and just putting best specs in their most expensive phones. Same goes for Apple, Sony and all other manufacturers. The smartphone industry is in need of some serious innovation but unfortunately no company is willing to take the next big step and there seems to be no one in the near future too.

We are unfortunately left with an extremely capitalist ideology of money over innovation and that is what is succeeding in the practical life.
