Scientists confirm super massive black hole at the center of our galaxy

In a recent announcement by scientists, it has been revealed that there is a super massive black hole located at the center of our galaxy, named Sagittarius A*. Well, now they have further evidence about the black hole as before this revelation black hole was suspected for some time by scientists.

With the help of Very Large Telescope (VLT) Cosmologists observe flares of infrared radiation from the disk of debris surrounding Sagittarius A* (pronounced A-Star), which is a strong evidence that it is really a supermassive black hole.

A group of scientists at the European Southern Observatory (ESO) observe three bright flares orbiting around Sagittarius A* at a great speed of 30% of the speed of light. They observed it though the GRAVITY telescope interferometer.

The flares are believed to be caused by the heated gases of orbit Sagittarius A* which interact with the magnetic fields nearby them, and are in line with what scientists expected would be seen in the region of a black hole.

A video is released by ESO showing a beautiful visualization of zooming into the black hole and seeing the twirling pattern of the flares that surround it:

It is important to mention here that it is the first time that material has been observed so close to the event horizon of a black hole. The event horizon is an area around a black hole from which nothing can escape not matter or even light. Yes, it’s seems dangerous though.

It is fact that black holes are so dense, they comprise very strong gravity which pulls anything within the event horizon back towards the black hole and stops it from escaping.

The innermost steady orbit is the closest that matter can come to the black hole without being dragged into it and this is where the flares are observed by the ESO originated.

The combination forces of friction and gravity used to compress the gases in the hole that raise its temperature, which is how the flares form.

Due to the enormous size, super massive black hole named “Sagittarius A* “is stronger than most black holes. Moreover, now we have confirmation that this cosmological huge is the center around which the entire Milky Way galaxy rotates.
