All you want to know about World Cup 2019

The good news is here for all cricket freaks as the wait is over and ICC has released the schedule of World Cup 2019. Without any doubt, World Cup is one of the biggest events of cricket and fans were desperately waiting for it. ICC World Cup will start from 30 May, 2019 and the opening match will be played between England and South Africa in the Oval ground England.

As per details of International Cricket Council, the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 will be staged in England and Wales from 30 May to 14 July.

Total 11 Cricket World Cup games have been hosted in cricket-playing countries around the world, from 1975 to 2015. The World Cup of 2015 was played between Australia and New Zealand and Australia won the World Cup.

The first match of Pakistan (winners of Champions Trophy) will be played against the West Indies (ICC World Twenty 20 winners)on 31 May at Trent Bridge in Nottingham.

ICC Chief Executive David Richardson shares his views in a statement, “Next summer fans around the world will be treated to compelling and competitive cricket as the best teams in the world go head to head in this round-robin format for the right to be crowned World Champions.”

The announcement of the schedule is another important moment for the fans as the tournament comes to life after 4 years and all teams and cricket lovers across the world are overjoyed.

The feature match B/W rivals (Pak/India)

Most importantly, the feature match against traditional rivals Pakistan and India will be played on 16 June at Old Trafford in Manchester.

Semi finals and Final

The stage of the two semi-finals on 9 and 11 July will be set at Old Trafford in Manchester and Edgbaston in Birmingham. Finalmatch will host by Lord’s Ground in London 14 July, while it will be a privilege for Lord’s ground to host a World Cup final for the fifth time.

The 46-day tournament will be played on eleven world-class venues in which each side will play the other once in a single-league format and eventually the top four sides after 45 matches will qualify to the semi-finals.

ICC Chief Executive David Richardson said: “It’s always an exciting moment ahead of any major event to announce the schedule and for the ICC Cricket World Cup. Next summer fans around the world will be treated to compelling and competitive cricket as the best teams in the world go head to head in this round-robin format for the right to be crowned World Champions.

“This schedule also gives fans across England and Wales the opportunity to watch world-class cricket on their doorstep with all teams moving around the country. We know from previous ICC events that every country will be proudly supported at each of the venues creating an exceptional Ticket prices atmosphere and a real celebration of the game.”

The Ticket prices for the matches are offered are as follows:

  • 80,000+ tickets at £20 (over half of the group stage matches)
    • 200,000+ tickets at £50 or less
    • Child tickets at every match, starting from £6
    • Family of four for £52
