Facebook faces another lawsuit over collecting text and call history of users. Facebook is facing troubles over troubles as recently it is going through another legal headache due to the same reason it faced earlier as it collected users’ personal data and then sold it to the highest bidder.
Recently, a company named “Six4Three” has filed a lawsuit in California court. The company claimed that Facebook used different methods to gather users’ personal information in order to use this info for commercial reasons, such as ad targeting for the election campaigns.
The case also revealed some shocking details, according to which Zuckerburg himself was directly involved in the data harvesting, as reported by The Guardian. It was based on extensive emails and messages between Facebook executives and even Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerburg himself.
For the past couples of months, Facebook has been in hot due to Cambridge Analytica scandal where Facebook handed over data of over 87 million Facebook accounts to this data analytical firm. It was hard to tackle the scenario and Mark was also getting pressure from US government official about how it handled users’ data and used it against US election campaign.
But, this new lawsuit filed a startup “Six4Three” which is now dysfunctional has been filed over a defunct app Pikinis. Although, in 2015 Facebook removed the app after it made changes in its policy that no third-party developers will be able to access a user’s friend data.

In response to the lawsuit, a Facebook spokesperson said;
“When we changed our policy in 2015, we gave all third-party developers ample notice of material platform changes that could have impacted their applications. But, Six4Three chose not to work with us “
He further added;
“The allegations that they have outlined are meritless and designed to detract from their complaint. We have made it clear that we will fight this lawsuit and protect users’ data.”
Therefore, Facebook’s representative has made it clear that Facebook doesn’t monitor user’s call and text history data devoid of their permission claiming that the Six4Three’s allegation is baseless and unjustified.
However, now it’s all upon court what they will decide it’s not up to the officials of Facebook what they think or believe. Court will decide, as the case is going to proceed in coming days.
Not to know, in the recent pas Zuckerberg admitted that Facebook Messenger app scans users’ conversations. He also confessed that it keeps a record of texts and call history but also indicated that it asks for users’ approval before doing that.
Well, I must say most of the time, users just ignore the fact that they are accepting a lot of permission when asked at the time of installing Facebook or messenger app, ultimately allowing Facebook to access your personal data.
