Pakistani players excluded from the T10 league by PCB

It has been revealed that the Pakistani Cricket Board has disallowed Pakistani players from taking part in the T10 league held in UAE every year. PCB has given its players an NOC (no objection certificate) which will make sure that no player from Pakistan is to be allowed to participate in the league which is set to begin on the 23rd November 2018. The decision was made after questions arose against the league’s potential finances

Not so long ago the Dubai-based league suffered a great loss after it was revealed that the President of the T10 league, Salman Iqbal of the ARY media group had resigned from the role because of the lack of transparency within the network.

Ehsan Mani the Chairman of PCB wrote to the global cricketing monitoring body, International Cricket Council (ICC), seeking assurance about the finances surrounding the league and how these finances are being provided. The decision came to write about this matter after ICC itself sanctioned the league.  Ehsan Mani stated that keeping his players out of this matter and protecting them against any possible negativity is his foremost priority.

The league is set to commence on the 23rd of November and will feature 8 teams upgraded from 6 last year, as the teams will compete for the title with a total of 28 matches to be played across a period of 10 days. It seems that the teams have already signed their icon players while retaining at least 4 from the previous year’s squad, of course the new teams will pick all the players they seek in the draft which is expected to be held very soon.

Chairman PCB has said the board will be re-evaluating all the leagues in the world with respect, and will investigate how reliable and efficient these leagues are in terms of transparency and the finances that surround these leagues, where they come from and how. According to Mani when he investigated the T10 league it was found that no finances have been filed and that there is no record about the finances surrounding this league or how these finances are being managed.

Najam Sethi the previous Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board had ensured that the Pakistani players will be available for the first two seasons of this league even after reservations from the PSL (Pakistan Super league) franchises. However Salman Iqbal convinced Sethi and won his confidence but as the Chairman has changed, and with him any previous promises that existed are now dead, PCB is taking no chances on its players. Ehsan Mani questioned the concept of Pakistani players taking part in the league, stating “I think the only criteria that were considered was how much money PCB and the players will get. The player’s workload was not taken into account”. Whatever the case cricket is a sport that provides entertainment to the masses and should be pure of any conflict.
