The Joker (2020) looks set to cross a milestone

So the Comic book sensation and probably the most loved and popular villain in the comic book world the Joker, had its origin story Film release this year and well, the movie has taken the world by storm. Now, the new movie is set to cross a great milestone as it is reported that Joker is poised to surpass $1 billion in global ticket sales on Friday, becoming the first R-rated Hollywood movie ever to get this feat.

Moreover, the Joker had, a dark origin story from Warner Bros about Batman’s arch nemesis, the movie has raised a whopping $999.1 billion as of Thursday and the interesting fact is that the movie has not been screened in China the country with one of the biggest population in the world and is projected to become the world’s largest movie market next year.

Furthermore,the movie starred the famous actor  Joaquin Phoenix as a mentally-ill loner who finds fame through a random act of violence, the movie earned warm reviews as it opened in early October but stoked controversy in the United States over fears it would encourage violence. One of the best things about the movie was definitely Joaquin’s acting, the way in which he immersed himself in to the role was truly remarkable.

Box office analyst Gitesh Pandya said Joker would top the $1 billion level on Friday.

“Absolutely jaw-dropping achievement for an R-rated film with a moderate budget and no China release,” Pandya, founder and editor of Box Office Guru, wrote on Twitter.

Moreover,it should be noted that the nearest to 1 billion mark R-rated films included Deadpool 2 released in 2018 and that movie raised about $785 million and the next in line was 2016’s Deadpool which raised an amazing, $783 million, both starring Ryan Reynolds as a foul-mouthed superhero.

In addition to things,it is worth noting here that the movie only got a decent budget estimated to be around $60 million, hence Joker is also set to become the most profitable comic book movie ever, according to Forbes, due largely to the film’s focus on character rather than special effects and action scenes.

In addition to that, as it stands Joker is currently the 7th biggest Hollywood movie at the 2019 box office, behind action-packed blockbuster Avengers: Endgame at $2.8 billion and family movie The Lion King at $1.6 billion, both from Walt Disney.

The movie is also expected to get nominations in the upcoming Hollywood awards season and has inspired fans to visit the spot in New York’s Bronx district where Phoenix’s character transforms into the Joker, his face painted like a clown and with green hair, and dances triumphantly down a set of steep steps.
